Lake Heritage is directed by unpaid volunteers – the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is composed of nine (9) Lake Heritage members who have been elected for three-year terms to serve and oversee the community. It is difficult to create a comprehensive job description because the job varies from month to month and according to community needs. Each director is expected to attend monthly board meetings and chair a committee. It is also common practice for a director to be involved and visibly present at association events such as community events, holiday events and celebrations, and fund-raising activities.
There are many reasons why someone should consider running for the board. Some are drawn to the ideas of giving back to their community, some have ideas that they would like to see get off the ground, and some have an area of expertise that would benefit the community. Though each candidate has their own reasons, most are ultimately swayed by the desire to better the community and make a difference.
What To Do Next
All association members in good standing are eligible to run. If a candidate is interested in running, they’ll need to complete a bio-sketch (application). The Nominating Committee will ask for a candidate’s name, address, telephone number, email address, personal background, interests or hobbies, and platform. This allows voters who do not know the candidate personally to evaluate the candidate’s qualifications and appropriateness for the job. Candidates can submit the bio-sketch via email to Ashley Heintzelman firstname.lastname@example.org, or drop them at the gatehouse.
