Meet Dan Tapper, the newest member of our Security team here at Lake Heritage. Dan has filled the vacant Deputy Chief position within the organization. Dan and his wife Jo have owned a home at Lake Heritage for a year and finally moved here full time in March. Dan is a retired Police Chief. As Chief, Dan was responsible for a 17 member police force for the community of Essex Fells New Jersey. In that capacity, he managed all day to day operational elements of the agency. Starting as a Patrol Officer in 1980, Dan moved through the ranks eventually becoming the Police Chief in a career that spanned 25 years. After Dan retired, he took a position as a Regional Property Manager for a company that manages apartment complexes in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. While a police officer, Dan also owned a security business that installed alarms, card access systems and cameras.
Prior to joining the Security team, Dan became a member of the Security/Safety Operations Committee. He got an early start with the security staff by conducting a training session with the employees. He also received a Community Service Award at the recent LHPOA Annual Meeting.
Although Dan has only been an employee for about 3 weeks, he is really enjoying getting to know the community and its residents on a more personal level. He said in reality most of his life has involved working with residents and he really looks forward to continuing that practice. Dan believes that his background and experience will be a valuable asset. He looks forward to working with the Security team and the community.
Dan and his wife Jo have 3 children and 6 grandchildren (with one more on the way). One little known fact about Dan is that he is a square dance caller. When not working, Dan enjoys fishing, metal detecting, amateur radio and riding his Harley.
