I moved to Lake Heritage twelve years ago from Frederick, MD with my husband, Mike. My husband and I are proud parents of two adult children and grandparents to five grandchildren.
I retired from Frederick County Public Schools four years ago where I held numerous positions dealing with budgets, operations, and construction for a county that consist of more than sixty-six school facilities. I’m currently an indie author who publishes, manages the budget, and scheduling marketing events for my books.
Past board experience includes being a member of All Saints Episcopal Church vestry in Frederick, Md. where I chaired the Christian Education Committee and was also the junior high youth group leader. I served as the president of Frederick High School Sports Boosters raising funds to supplement the school’s athletic program. I was president of both Frederick County and Maryland Association of Educational Office Professionals along with serving as the webmaster for the state organization website.
I’m currently a member of both the Fishing Club and Women’s Club at Lake Heritage, along with the Gettysburg Adams Chambers of Commerce and Destination Gettysburg.
I attended Frederick High School and Frederick Community College.
To utilize all available resources to improve the quality of life for homeowners along with enhancing the property values at Lake Heritage.
Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors for the Lake Heritage Property Owners’ Association?
I believe one must always be willing to serve and contribute to the community where they live.
What specific skill set that you possess would be an asset to the association?
My past experiences and knowledge that I’ve acquired from serving on the boards mentioned above. Also, I feel my work experience in the school system, especially in the area of school facilities, makes me a qualified candidate.
What do you see, from the outside looking in, as the primary duties and responsibilities of a board member?
To be responsible stewards of the lake’s finances, to uphold the bylaws, and to work in partnership with both the homeowners and lake management.
The Board of Directors meet generally on the second Wednesday of the month. Often there is a workshop preceding the Board meeting. You will probably be assigned a committee to chair, have monthly reports to write and attend other meetings scheduled as per need. Does this present an issue for you or does it conflict with other commitments?
I have no issue or conflict.
