A total of 55 attendees, including two new couples (Maggie& Jeffrey Langdon and Robin & Don Robertson) gathered in the Banquet Room of the Community Center for the Fishing Club meeting on December 14th.President Steve Oakes called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and thanked the following members for their service in sharing hosting responsibilities: & Ze Wagner, Bunny & John Phillips, Debi Royals & Phil Layne, Gerry Royals, and Paul Schneeloch. The theme for the evening was “Woodland Christmas” and the hostesses/hosts went well beyond expectations in decorating the tables with abundant holiday-related items and plentiful boughs of fresh holly. The food tables were covered with an array of holiday fare that attendees found scrumptious.
Steve passed out the sign-up sheet for members who did not attend the November meeting to choose which meeting dates in the New Year they desire to serve as hosts/hostesses.
Steve thanked attendees for donating many non-perishable food items that Ernie & Shirley Clevinger graciously volunteered to deliver to the South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP) Food Pantry.
Treasurer Bob Gough provided his monthly financial report,with a checking balance of $8664 on November 30th (of which $782 isset aside for the Veterans and Friends Initiative) – leaving a balance of $7882for other club expenditures. Bob’s report was accepted by the membership. Bobinformed members that he provided checks to Stan Clark, Adams County Directorof Veterans Affairs, for the veterans who were chosen to receive $500 each asStan had earlier recommended to Scotty Watt. Secretary Dave Moulton’s meetingminutes, included in the December issue of the LH Newsletter, were accepted by membersin attendance.
Pat Thorsen, Chair of the Sunshine Committee, mentioned she sent out four get well or sympathy cards to members since the November meeting.
Bill Bauer stepped smartly to the lectern to announce that his wife, Beth, who tasked him to remind experienced soup makers that the Soup/Salad Bingo Event, the club’s first fundraising night of 2019, will be held February 22nd at the Community Center. Please contact Beth and let her know you will be available to make another batch of your delicious soup recipes.
Steve thanked the outgoing slate of officers for their service and acknowledged the new slate of officers (Steve Oakes, President;Craig Dresser, Vice President; Cindy & John Spinelli, Secretary; and Ernie Clevinger, Treasurer) will be officially installed at the next meeting on January 11th. Hosts and hostesses for the meeting will be Kay &Joe MacDowell, Dorothy & Jack Nicholas, Rachel & Randy Parmentier, and Shirley & Dick Purdy.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

February 22nd – Soup/Salad & Bingo Fundraiser at the Community Center from 5:30 p.m. through the end of the Bingo games. See fliers in both the January and February newsletters for additional details about this special event and plan on bringing your family and friends for a fun evening. Please note that Bingo players do not need to be at least 21 years old since the prizes will be white elephant gifts and not money.
