January 8th, the monthly meeting of the Lake Heritage Women’s Club was held at the Community Center. Approximately twenty women attended. Lots of healthy and delicious snacks were provided by the club officers this month.
This month, our program was about adaptive skiing. We were informed and entertained by Mike Casello, a professional ski instructor who works with individuals with physical, mental and emotional disabilities in an adaptive ski program through Ski Liberty in Fairfield, PA. He demonstrated several pieces of adaptive equipment and shared some of his experiences working with the skiers. He answered our many questions! Mike says that most ski resorts have adaptive ski programs and it is best to contact a resort near you for more information.
A huge thank you goes out to all who helped take down the Christmas decorations following the meeting! Several husbands volunteered – which was a big help! But…a special thank you goes out to Brian French. While Women’s club was meeting, Brian was already hard at work taking down the decorations. All of his work made un-decorating so much faster and easier. Thanks again Brian!
An update was given on the quarterly blood drive – 21 units were collected. Thanks to all who gave. The need for blood always increases during the holidays so thanks again to all who took time out of their busy schedules to donate! Also, plans are going forward for the Women’s Club annual plant sale in May. Watch for more information coming soon.
Our next meeting is February 12th at 9:30 am at the Community Center. Our speaker is Joe Richard, a Lake Heritage resident, who will provide us with a travel log from a safari in Africa that Joe and his wife Karen experienced. We’re looking forward to this! Please join us!
